King Felipe VI of Spain was joined by Queen Letizia as he presided over the Annual Armed Forces Day ‘Día de las Fuerzas Armadas’ at the Paseo de Cristóbal Colón in Seville on June 1st. Armed Forces Day dates to 1978 when the national festival was established to pay homage to the Army, Navy and Air force.
The culmination of the event is a fly-by from the Spanish Air Force aerobatics team, the Patrulla Águila, who released a stream of crimson and gold smoke to replicate Spain’s national flag across the sky.

More than 300 activities will also be carried out in different locations throughout Spain, including exhibitions, concerts, open-doors and swearing allegiance to the flag, with the aim of bringing the public closer to the Spanish Armed Forces.
